What is Chiropractic and what do Chiropractors do?

Chiropractic is the largest natural healing profession in the United States. Most people know Chiropractors as “back pain doctors”.

In fact the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) states that “Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints or the arms or legs, and headaches.” There are many Salem Chiropractors who can do a great job of treating your physical complaints.

The most common treatment given by a Chiropractor is a Spinal “Adjustment”. This is where the doctor applies a gentle mechanical force to a joint in your body in order to improve the alignment or function of the joint. Adjustments are mostly done by hand, but can also be done using special instruments.

There are many different adjustment methods. Most Chiropractors become trained in a certain adjusting method or combination of methods, which they feel delivers the best results. Chiropractors define “results” in different ways. Many chiropractors treat only for pain relief. This means that as soon as your pain is improved or gone, the doctor would stop treatment.

A growing number of Chiropractors focus on treatment beyond pain relief. Research shows that, even though you “feel fine”, there may be underlying structural problems that, left uncorrected, could lead to further deterioration of your health and quality of life. That is why our clinic focuses on Structural Correction.
